VSNL is the principal provider of public international telecommunication services in India, directly and indirectly linking the domestic telecommunications network to approximately 237 territories worldwide. The Company provides international telephone, telex and telegraph services and operates fourteen international switching and transmission facilities at ten locations (”gateways”) - Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Ernakulam, Gandhinagar, Jalandhar and Kanpur, Bangalore, and Hyderabad which route international traffic to and from the domestic telecommunications network using a combination of satellite and undersea cable links.
