Kerr-McGee
The inorganic chemicals division of Kerr-McGee Corporation manufactures titanium dioxide pigment (TiO2 ), the primary whitener for paints, plastics, and paper. Kerr-McGee produces enough of the stuff to bring in nearly a third of its parent company’s total; it is the world’s third-largest TiO2 producer, behind DuPont and Lyondell’s Millennium Chemicals. The remaining 15% or so of the company’s business is involved in manufacturing electrolytic chemicals like manganese dioxide and sodium chlorate.
