Just around the time of Diwali, I had applied for a senior position in IT(6+ yrs experience) at HSBC Pune center with my detailed CV.

I was called for a walk-in a Hotel Mirador in Andheri along with my detailed CV, and after half a day of giving technical and apptitude tests cleared that round.
I was told HSBC has a policy of talking aptitude tests even at a senior level.

Further a call was made from the HR where-in questions were asked relating to my previous experience and I was called for an intervie in Pune.

The Pune interview was conducted by a Project Manager who had recently moved from US, and a technical person from the team. It took an entire day for the interview and travel from Mumbai to Pune and back.
I was again informed that the round was cleared, and since I was from Mumbai the recruitement process would be from Mumbai hence a final visit to Mumbai Fort HSBC branch would be required.

On visiting them, the HR personnel checked my CV and told that I was not having enough academic qualification as per HSBC’s procedure and I would be called on for a furthe Aptitude test in case they were OK with my technical qualification.
Why was I not told this before-hand, even before the various rounds of interviews were taken.? Why was my time wasted along with the entire technical interview panel’s precious time.?
I am not happy with this unprofessional behaviour where-in my CV was thoroughly checked during a walk-in interview, further by HR Pune and also a final interview with the actual working team is cleared, and finally I am told that I don’t have the required academic qualification.

On later checking with the recruiter consultant about this, I was told that HSBC had done this to many candidates in earlier cases also, and they are very unprofessional in the way they take interviews.

I wrote back to the HR Pune and till date I haven’t got any feedback from them.

I am not sure, but perhaps HSBC HR panel may have got some reasons where-in they were not transparent enough in informing me about the real reason and compromising on my professional rights.

hi all its T-bon ..
i didnt find nething worth about the company on this location so i m writing ..
i went for the campus recruitment on april mid for HSBC GLT ..
it was one of the toughest and lenthy one till all companies i had faced.
there were more than 200 question based on ur english, datastructure , mental ability , reasoniong , and everthing that one can expext in an entrance ..
some were quite tough some were manageable and some were easy so go for the easy one as time would be the major constrains .. dont panic while u solve try to be accurate as they check the accuracy as there was no -tive marking at all i think the test was taken by some third party on their behalf .. befor this i cleared the ibm test .. so u can say test was 90% same as of ibm so i didnt find any dificulty in clearing that ..although.. some questions were also same i can say that it was like ibm test was the subset of the hsbc.. neway out of 200 people who appeared 20 were selected after that technical interview ohh god please god made all u people lucky .. so that u must cleared dat ..
mine was quite tough .. he screwed me from top to bottom it was for 65minutes ..he asked me everythinh from basic of computers to networking , java c++, basics hardware operating system ..
as my project was in java so i was really prepared for that that helped me a lot ..
he also asked me to prepare a logic for som puzzle please atleast try a lot .. i f u unable to solve that its ok but dont simply refuse it ..
that a lots og question on data structures like sorting and serching tech go well for that .. and be confidence while u answering wat helped me was the my prepartion for java as need people in java .. i ith my three friend cleared the tech so out of 20, 11 got in for HR ..
HR mam was also tough to be impressed ..
the first quest was
tell me something about urself.
than why MCA?
why HSBC?
WHY Pune ?
what ur skills ?
what u know about us?
all these to measure u in confidence,communication(most important) the way u r answering and ur family ..
it was about 25 minutes ..
from 11 they selected 9 .. that was. cool
and ofcourse my name was also in .. by grace of my well wishers and god..
the company is cool i wuld be working in pune from next year .. as my exams are going on of MCA 4th sem ..
