Hokuriku Electric Power provides electricity in the Japanese prefectures of Fukui, Ishikawa, and Toyama. The utility owns and operates hydroelectric, fossil-fueled, and nuclear power plants that generate 6,000 MW of capacity. Hokuriku Electric Power distributes electricity to approximately 2 million customers in its service territory, which is located in the central region of Japan’s largest island. In response to liberalization in the country’s power market, the company has expanded into new business arenas, such as telecommunications and environmental services.
