Degussa
Degussa is the largest specialty chemicals company in the world, ahead of the likes of Ciba, Clariant, and ICI. The company has 21 units that are grouped in five divisions: coatings and advanced fillers, fine and industrial chemicals (for pharmaceuticals, water treatment, paper, and mining), construction chemicals (concrete additives), performance materials (superabsorbents, food activities, additives for personal care products, and paints), and specialty polymers. The world’s largest maker of specialty chemicals, Degussa’s best-known brand is Plexiglas plastic sheet. German coal mining firm RAG owns a majority of Degussa.
