But make sure you have sound reasons to justify your lying..

Cognizant is good for those who are freshers. It sucks big time for those who already have a good job experiece. Moreover, if you are from a good MNC like Wipro, Infy you should never think of joining cogni.
The HR are the worst lot. They will try to get you in for the least salary. They might offer you good sal initially but once you are taken it you would hardly get any hike.
This year the hike was around 0%-7%. This shows that cognizant is far behind wipro, infy.
For freshers its a good company. You get good exposure etc but not for experience people.

Im Ashwin Rathore,a 2005 Computer Science graduate working for Applabs technologies in hyderabad as a Software Engineer. I’ve been selected by Cognizant through Freshers Offcampus recruitment conducted in hyderabad on Jan 29th.Im supposed to join Cognizant on March 6th at hyderabad with a compensation of 2,11608 per annum. I’ve a couple of friends who joined CTS as freshers through offcampus in the last six months and have been offered 2.4lpa. Can any1 please let me know why there is a difference between the two payscales?.One of them started wtih 2.1lpa but his salary was revised within 3 months to 2.4lpa. Isnt there any kind of norm on payscale for freshers??. Is there any chance that our salary would be revised to 2.4lpa or so??? and if so what could be the period of time.

Guys,,, dont join Cognizant… I have worked in CTS for 5 years… and my salary never grew with my experience… CTS is suitable only for freshers…who need to build their expereience…
Overall i will rate CTS as 5 % only comparing to all other software giants…Very poor managers….who really sucks..

They dont give good salary to bsc graduates even after experience. i agree with the above comment that the salary stays same no matter how many years of hard work you put in this organization. i am quitting soon . they will exploit you thats all. The food they serve in their cafetaria will make you sick..dont ever try that.

i just had an interview with CTS at the Hindu Job Fair (ASP.net, SQL Server) on this 20th May, 2006. First I had the technical round, then they asked me to fill in my details (like that on CV) and then a HR round. They asked to wait for a week to get their response. the following is 1000% true, i know this out of personal experience, agree with nagesh completely:
The HR are the worst lot. They will try to get you in for the least salary. They might offer you good sal initially but once you are taken it you would hardly get any hike.
This year the hike was around 0%-7%. This shows that cognizant is far behind wipro, infy.
Also,if i may add, this company is a chennai based company, so if you are a southie you will grow like anything, there is defenitely a bias in pay scale , promotion, whats worse is that if they dont give you promotion they will try to find faults in you, but usually they fall flat on their face, many good people have left cognizant and are working in better companies like SAP. So guys, if you dont get into CTS consider yourselves lucky. Dont lose heart..be thankful that god is on your side and saved you. Keep trying.. may the force be with you.

Well I have been selected through campus interview after a vvery interesting aptitude test.
The personal interveiw was a good experience, they are eager to bring out the good in you.
My advice to everyone looking forward to the process is to
1. Remain very relaxed during the aptitude test coz the questions are interesting if you aren’t nervous.
2. Go to the interview very confidently ( if you know your stuff!).
The best are surelly gonna get through.

I worked for a US. fortune 50 company for many years. The biggest issue we had and still have with foreign contractors was not being able to understand their speech or writing. The best thing you can do to be successful working in the US or for US companies is to become fluent in English speaking accent and correct grammatical writing syntax. I ignore people I can’t understand and look for someone else. I don’t have time to learn to understand each person’s different speaking and writing style.

Lots of interesting comments abt CTS! I am working in this company for many years, and want to say few things based on the above comments.
CTS is one of the fastest growing company in terms of revenue, people, technology! I become billion dollar company in only 12 years when Infy, Wipro or other big companies took much more time. The higher management of CTS is wonderful & sympathetic. CTS admits & acknowledges good work, and you have the best possible future if you can prove yourself.
But similar to all other big companies, 100% people can not be the achiever! You have to prove yourself to get a hike in salary or promotion! Believe me, if you have talent in you, and you have used it to your best…CTS will reward you more than your expectation. Everybody can think they are achiever or they have talent, but to prove youself among 28,000 selected population is not so easy. Only 20% can reach to the top rang! It is true for other companies also…
My experience was always great in this company. I have worked at Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, US…and I am not from South India. CTS is not biased when it comes to performance appraisal. It is a systemetic process, and many people are involved to appraise a single person, to avoid any biased comment. Getting the hieghest rating in appraisal in CTS is almost the same as getting through 5 days long Army Service Selection Board interview! Your expertise on programming may not always help you to crack it, it requires lots of other skills…just have a look at CTS top management people, you will feel it!
But remember, life is always not fair. Sometime Bad guys win! Never mind it…do your own job with love, CTS will take care of you. This was my experience, in achieved most of my dreams within only 2 years! And about experienced people, I never seen the deserved person to be get dishertened in CTS.
Now the problem is – it does not really matter in appraisal what you think about yourself, it matters what others think about you! So keep it in mind, do not worry much about money at the early stage of your career. Money will shower on you if you can prove yourself, allow the time to prove yourself before you compare your salary with others from the very first day! After few years, they highly differs for high-performance people.
For freashers, do join CTS if you want to join CTS. If you are upset because your friend in other company is having a fat pay-check…CTS is not a right place. CTS does not care about background or experience. If you can prove youself on the job, you will never fall short of money here. Many talented people became millionare in CTS. But it takes time to show your talentm (at least 2-3 years)…so be prepared for that! It is not possible to know someone over-night…
I have to disagree with some views expressed here that the HR are the worst lot.They are very friendly and cordial and nobody would find any difficulty in claiming a place in Cognizant (read:you should satisfy atleast the minimum requirements).

hi, i went through cognizant interview at our campus, it was not at all like a interview as described by the seniors or or by some of our sources(?),it was just like having chat with your senior friend who wanna know about you and your capabilities,strenghts etc. it was a 20 minutes of chat session i had there and i was walking out with a joy and smile on my face.

Do enquire about the Job Profile before writing the Cognizant test. I got through the test on October 7, 2006 and the interview on October 12, 2006 and was offered a job by Cognizant, but I denied it as it was for a tech support position. I was selected for the written test through careers.cognizant.com, and the test was conducted by MeritTrac. No one who wrote the test ever expected that it was for tech support. Even they did mention about it anywhere. The recruitment process is the same for Programmer Analyst Trainee position and the tech support position. Don’t be fooled, you won’t be able to attend CTS test for next 12 months.
Call up the HR person who is in charge of the recruitment process and ask about job designation before writing the test.

As I can see here, a lot of comments,queries abt CTS. Well as an employee of CTS, its good to see that so many ppl are interested abt the company. There will always be some ppl who won’t ever be satisfied with the what the company has to offer u and others may be with some bad experience.
Anyway, I am a Computer Science grad from Calcutta University placed in CTS through campus recruitment process in January’06 and I have joined on Sept’06. Trust me, as a fresher u will gain a lot from the company…namely A global exposure, A good working environment, Opportunity to always learn new things every now n then and ofcourse A good pay package.
Ya its true that you have to prove urself efficient for the conpany and success will come ur way.
All the frshers, who are waiting to join CTS, or will sit for the interview…all I have to say is have confidence in urself and know ur subject. We all do celebrate work out here…and I am sure very soon Cognizant is gonna be the best IT company in India.

one of my friend went to cognigent interview.
She cleared all the technical and in Hr round the hr asked qns like if you came to know that your mother is a prostitute how do feel.she asked one more disgusting question which I dont wanna share.I cant say CTS is a bad company.
If you ever come across these kind of questions answer her in the langwage an animal can understand.
I dont know how much appropriate is to ask this question here. But, Couldn’t help it. I have around 6 years of experience in software development working from hardcore C++ to C#, from unix shell scripts to performance oriented java applications. Right now, I am working as a tech. lead in a delhi based small (but dynamically growing) IT firm.
All these years I have been really workin on the projects that are very complex and critical enough. But,One problem I have in my career is I dont have graduation. I never studied in any colleges, all the knowledge are through my practical experience since I started mucking around with computers while I was studying 9th standard.
The question I would like to ask here is, “Is my kind guys are allowed in CTS type of companies?”, or specifically CTS.
Can you guys help me in letting me know is there any people around here like me who works for big companies?
