Bombardier Aerospace subsidiary is the world’s #3 maker of civil aircraft behind Boeing and Airbus; the #1 regional aircraft maker (Canadair, de Havilland), ahead of Embraer; and one of the two largest makers of business jets (Challenger, Learjet), just behind Gulfstream. Its Bombardier Transportation division — which added DaimlerChrysler’s Adtranz rail systems unit in 2001 — is the world’s largest railway equipment maker. The company, which may build a family of 110- to 135-seat planes, has sold its recreation vehicle business, which made Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, ATV’s, and Sea-Doo personal watercraft. The Bombardier family controls Bombardier.
